The International Jazz Festival returns to Barcelona in its 56th edition with more jazz than ever. From October 10, 2024, to March 23, 2025, Barcelona will become the international capital of the jazz world music scene.

Founded in 1966, the International Jazz Festival of Barcelona has managed to be a very important item on the world music calendar. The personalities and most important artists of the jazz world come at the Barcelona’s Jazz Festival 2024, with the intention to promote and express their love and passion for Jazz music.

 

Festival History

The Palau de la Música Catalana hosted the first concert of the International Jazz Festival of Barcelona in November 1966. The pianist Dave Brubeck and his quartet delighted the audience with their music, making their mark and establishing a brand that endured throughout the festival's history.

Since then, Barcelona has remained true to this important event offering the audience the strength and magic of jazz. In the musical program of the International Jazz Festival of Barcelona, famous names are participating, like Dexter Gordon, Count Basie, Miles Davis, Sony Rollins, Kimmy Smith and many others.

Since 1989, Barcelona has taken the reins of the project and is responsible for promoting and organizing the festival. In addition, to complement the musical program during the past editions the city decided to hold parallel activities such as conferences, film screenings and even exhibitions all around the world of Jazz.

The International Jazz Festival Barcelona begins on October 10, with a wide musical range with such illustrious jazz music names as Pat Metheny, Kamasi Washington and Maria Schneider.
